Vincent Deporter was born in Belgium to Guy and Claudine Deporter. When he was very young, they moved to Canada. When he was a teenager his family moved again, to Frejus, in the south of France. Vince knew he wanted to be a cartoonist when he was 4 years old and he did just that. He drew for several comics in France, then, in 1997 moved to New York City and worked for DC Comics, proudly doing style guides for Batman and Superman as well as drawing for the Scooby-Doo comics. Vince also worked for Nickelodeon magazine on the Rugrats comics for a while, until meeting one of the loves of his life, SpongeBob SquarePants, who he happily worked on as both a writer and cartoonist for many years.
Vincent is survived by his beloved son, Jack Deporter and his beautiful daughter Cheyenne Deporter. He is also survived by his mother, Claudine Deporter and his sister Nathalie Raffaelli. Vincent also leaves behind two ex-wives whom he continued loving like family to the very end, Judith and Stacy. Vincent loved art and music and beauty and humor throughout his life. He will be remembered as someone who always tried to give others joy or even just a good laugh. He was someone who could converse with a random stranger for an hour and completely forget why he went to the store in the first place. He loved all kinds of people, especially their idiosyncrasies of character!
Vincent passed away September 25, 2023 at Del Webb Hospital after having yet another heart attack. During his last moments, he had his favorite Peter Gabriel song playing in his ears and was surrounded by his loved ones who were holding tightly onto his hands and loving him.
