Bradford Franklin Robertson, born May 27, 1928 in Mansfield, Arkansas, went home to the Lord August 11, 2017. Brad was an avid radio controlled aircraft hobbyist, having built his first plane in high school. His skills and interest would lead to radio control work in the military and, ultimately, his 37-year career repairing radios and other equipment on planes at Luke Air Force Base.
Brad served in both the newly minted Air Force (called Army Air Corps at the time) and Navy, and was active in both World War II and the Korean War.
After a particularly cold night of guard duty in France shortly after the end of World War II, Brad happily accepted the opportunity to transfer to the Caribbean. It was a fortuitous move, as he met his future wife, Jocelyn, at a USO dance in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He and Joyce wrote for several years before deciding to marry in June of 1954. They relocated to Phoenix, where they stayed throughout their 53-year marriage.
Brad and Joyce had four daughters. Their baby daughter, Mary, lived only a few days after her birth in 1960. Their surviving children include Anna Maria Cochran, her husband Don, sons Theran, Shaun and Orion; Heather Elizabeth Bednorz, her husband Joseph, and children Annette, Matthew, Mark and Brian; and Isabell Celestine Robertson, her partner Scott Sharitz and children Hannah and Sarrah. His beloved wife, Joyce, preceded Brad in death in 2007.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 17 from 6-8 pm at Advantage Golden Door Chapel, 11211 W. Michigan Avenue, Youngtown and the Funeral Mass will be11 am at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City. An Air Force Honor Guard will attend his burial at Holy Cross Cemetery
