Maxine Yvonne Long

Maxine was born on September 29, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas, the third of four children born to Lucile M. (Richardson) Miller and Lawrence M. Miller. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City in May of 1952. On December 3, 1952 she married Ernst E. Clever during his US Navy training in Chicago, IL. They raised two children together.

Maxine worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for 50+ years. She loved traveling, both domestic and international. Always an animal lover, her puppies were constant companions. Love for her children and grandchildren was visible in everything she did.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, who passed in 1980.     

Maxine is survived by her daughter Pamela J. (Clever) Ballinger and Pam’s husband Michael, and by her son Robert E. Clever and his wife Deborah. Additionally she leaves behind four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. 

A memorial for Maxine will be held at Loma Vista Memorial Park. Concern for the safety of all participants has inspired a delay of the service until June 23, 2021, by which time all who choose to partake should have access to COVID vaccine.
