Lisa Mercer went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2022, after a lengthy illness. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Lisa is survived by her husband of 42 years, Brett, daughters Candace, Rebecca, and Kayla Su, her grandchildren Aiden and Lucas, son-in-law Javier, brother Donald and sister-in-law Melissa, as well as an army of nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Alma, and her brother Dennis.
Lisa’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends laughing, telling stories, watching Aiden play sports, caring for Lucas, bowling, and playing games. She loved people, and her unconditional love for her husband, children, and grandchildren, was unsurpassed. Lisa was very content with her life, never wanted for more, accepting, non-judgmental, kind, and always saw the cup as half full. She had the ability to find the joy in every situation and bring a smile to others with her sometimes warped sense of humor. Laughter was her best medicine! Lisa’s primary passion was for those she loved to be happy, a character trait her mother, Alma, possessed as well. Both of her parents instilled a spirit of selflessness and giving. When Lisa’s brother and mother were ill, she took care of them willingly and without complaint. We referred to her as an angel and a saint, and know she has a special place in heaven with her family right now.
Lisa was a fighter. For over a year she fought cancer with strength, perseverance, dignity, and grace. Over the course of 40 years, she experienced many health-related events, including multiple kidney transplants, yet was always positive and upbeat. Even when she was ill, she was always available to listen, support, and help heal troubled hearts.
We can only aspire to be like Lisa. She was the person we should all strive to become. A true example of a life well lived with pure intentions and heart. Rest in peace, sweet angel.
