Carlo Del Carlo, 88, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed to eternal life with our heavenly Father on September 9th. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 22, 1933, to Albert and Kateryna Del Carlo. He attended St. Justin High School in Mount Washington. His favorite subjects were math and chemistry. He later went onto graduate from Carnegie Mellon University on June 11, 1957, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. His exciting career in optical engineering brought his family to Michigan and then to California. He worked for Cadillac Gauge Co., Chrysler Missiles, Rockwell International, Boeing and Beckman-Coulter. During his long career he helped design mirrors for space shuttles.
Carlo was affectionately known as “Grampie” and was loved by all who knew him. Grampie loved his family dearly and never missed a family event always being the last to leave. Although we take comfort knowing he has been received by God, we will miss him tremendously and are very grateful to God for all the years we had with him. He will forever be lovingly remembered for his dry sense of wit, love of all things mechanical, his brilliant mind, and his love for his family.
Carlo was preceded in death by his sister Lillian DeMarco and is survived by his four children, Nina Del Carlo, Dr. Diana Del Carlo (Kirk Illian), Carlo Del Carlo, Jr., Debra Del Carlo-Orrin (Richard Orrin, Jr.); and three grandchildren, Emma Donnelly, Dustin Del Carlo, and Vanessa Orrin; and one great granddaughter, Rayna Donnelly.
A Rosary will take place on Tuesday, September 21st at 10am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church at 19767 Yorba Linda Blvd., Yorba Linda.
