William F. Parker, Jr., of New Milford, CT (formerly of Yonkers) died on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Candlewood Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Milford, CT. He was 79 years old. He was born on January 16, 1934 to William F. Parker, Sr. and Mary O’Brien Parker in Yonkers where he was raised and attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Stepinac High School in White Plains in 1952. Mr. Parker was a firefighter for the City of Yonkers for twenty-two years from 1960 until his retirement in 1982. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953 to 1960. He achieved the rank of Lance Corporal and was stationed here in the states. Mr. Parker was a parishioner of St. Bartholomew’s Church and his hobbies included fishing, carpentry, and was an avid eagle collector. On November 3, 1956, he married Elizabeth Mary McNulty in St. Mary’s Church. Mrs. Parker survives and lives in New Milford. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William F. Parker, III, YFD and his wife Grace of New Milford and two daughters, Elizabeth Gerosa of Somers and Lisa Beresford and her husband Erik of Katonah. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher, Andrew, Caitlyn, Ryan, and Mason. He was predeceased by three sisters, Janet White, Margaret Brusack, and Elizabeth Klustner. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 9 from 4-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, October 10 at 10 am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 785 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, N.Y. 10605-2523.
