Thomas Caruso, 67, passed away quietly at home with his family on May 8, after a courageous 17 year battle with cancer.
He was born and raised In New Hyde Park NY to Rosario and Jean Caruso. He loved music, drums, singing and dancing. Tom learned to play the drums and at 13 he and his friends started their first band, playing all over Long Island for years. Their friendship and love of music remained and they reunited many times over the years and continued to play together for the next 50+ years.
After graduating Nassau Community College, Tom pursued audio engineering at HBO eventually landing in Broadcast Operations where he remained for 35 years. In 1992, he married his beloved wife Barbara (O'Connell) and moved to Yonkers. In 1996, they welcomed their son, Michael, who he adored. He loved his family first and foremost, his friends, Lake George and Montauk.
Tom was blessed to be surrounded by an amazing group of extended family and friends who, in his last years, never failed him, supported him and loved him.
Tom is survived by his wife and son, sister and brother in-law, Maryellen and John Kreinbihl, a large extended family and his friends, and Yoda.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Stand Up To Cancer or charity of your choice.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Monday, May 13, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whalen & Ball. A mass of christian burial will occur Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY. A private cremation will occur.
