Scott was born June 16, 1975 to Joseph and Nancy Burke. Scott attended Sacred Heart High School and Yonkers Prep, followed by Oneonta State. Scott or as some called him Scotty will be remembered as a beloved son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle and a friend which most people loved like a brother.
Scott was a poet and could recite Kerouac and Ginsberg when he was in his teens. He was an avid reader from The Brothers Karamazov to Lord of the Rings. He considered himself somewhat of an amateur movie critic. Scott loved to cook and bake. He was always trying new recipes and sharing ideas on what to make next with Rin and his sister Heather. He enjoyed taking his dog Rosie on hikes and appreciating nature. Scott’s real passion was for music, all kinds. He loved attending live shows, especially Phish. If Phish was playing he wanted to be there jamming along. He had a quick wit and an infectious laugh.
Everyone who knew Scott knew he was a kind soul. Scott is survived by his wife Nuraini and stepson Adam, brother William Burke and his wife Kelly of Yonkers and sister Heather Coffey and her husband Tim Coffey of Rye, NY; as well as nieces and nephews Michaela, Julia, Kennedy, Timmy and Dermot. He also leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
Scott was preceded in death by mother Nancy Burke and father Joseph Burke.
Visiting hours will be on Saturday April 23rd at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home from 1pm to 4pm. Prayer service 4pm at the funeral home. Final disposition private.
“With you I’d travel thick and with you I’d travel thin and all the space in between I’d travel with you, you’re my sweet one.” Phish Scott was such a sweet person and touched the lives of his family and friends. He will travel on in our memories forever.
