Robert J. Bracchitta, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Friday January 6, 2017 at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville. He was 63 years old. He was born on June 17, 1953 to Joseph and Norma (Silvestri) Bracchitta in Yonkers where he was raised and educated, graduating from Christ the King Grade School and Sacred Heart High School. He attended Pace University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. Mr. Bracchitta was employed by the County of Westchester for over 30 years, most recently as Assistant Commissioner of Westchester County Airport Operations until his retirement in 2010. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. On September 27, 1975, he married his loving wife Patricia Burke in St. Joseph’s Church in Yonkers. Mrs. Bracchitta survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Norma Bracchitta of Yonkers, 2 sons, Jeffrey Bracchitta and his wife Kristi of Scarsdale and Robert Bracchitta of Yonkers, three brothers, John of Burlington, VT, Joseph of Stamford, CT and David of Yonkers and one sister, Maria Pellegrino of Tuckahoe. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, William, Ryan, J.J. and Lily. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 4-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Christ the King Church on Tuesday January 10th at 10am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Brain Injury Association of Connecticut (www.biact.org).
