Raymond P. Murphy Jr.

Raymond “Duke” P. Murphy, Jr. of Yonkers died on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at age 51. Born on June 24, 1964 to Raymond and Wander (Zak) Murphy in Yonkers where he was raised and graduated from Sacred Heart High School and attended SUNY Plattsburg. Mr. Murphy worked as an electrician for Local # 3 for over twenty-seven years. On August 31, 1997 he married Margaret Hewitt in Sacred Heart Church, she survives. Raymond was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church; he also coached baseball with the Bryn Mawr Boys and Girls Club and basketball with St. John the Baptist School. He enjoyed his golf, his Yankees, his Giants and his New York Islanders but mostly especially time with his family. Besides his wife Margaret, he is survived by his son Raymond Paul Murphy III. He is also survived by his three sisters; Barbara, Linda and Karen (Ed White) Murphy; his brother-in-law Thomas (Nancy) Hewitt and his In-laws; Thomas and Ann Hewitt. He was the beloved uncle to Gene (Grace) Murphy, Wayne, Brandon and Brittany Fornabaio, Kelly and Casey Bordeaux and Brenna and Daniel Hewitt. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen and Ball Funeral Home on Sunday, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be in St. John the Baptist Church on Monday, June 13th at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
