Mina Anna Kowalczyk (nee Canziani), a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Monday December 9, 2013 at her residence in Falls Church, VA. She was 88 years old. She was born on March 15, 1925 to Carlos and Alfreda Kreichak Canziani in Czechoslovakia. She was orphaned at an early age and subsequently was raised and educated in Germany. Mrs. Kowalczyk was an assembler at Precision Valve Corp. in Yonkers for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and crocheting. In 1950, she married her loving husband, George “Yurij” Kowalczyk in England. Mr. Kowalczyk survives and lives in Fall Church, VA. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Marta Reuter of Falls Church, VA and Irene Hryhorowych of New York City. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Nicholas, Melanie, Tania, Alexander and Natalia. She was predeceased by a son, Andrew Kowalczyk in January 2012. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Saturday morning only 8:15 - 9am. Funeral Service will be held in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Saturday December 14th at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
