Ossining resident and Yonkers native Michael F. Salerno passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on July 2, 2020. Michael was born and raised in Yonkers, NY by his parents Frank Salerno Jr. and Carmella Salerno. When he was born the nurses all agreed he was the cutest baby in the nursery. He was charming from an early age. Michael attended and graduated from Sacred Hearth High School in Yonkers and shortly after enlisted in the United States Navy serving in Virginia Beach, VA. Michael was a hard worker and held various positions in the Yonkers Department of Recreation and the NY State Veterans Administration. He was known by his friends and family as a fun- loving, kind, charming, life of the party kind of guy who loved Guns N Roses and having a good time. Michael will be missed by many and is survived by his two daughters Michele Rios (Rolando Rios) and Elizabeth Salerno. He was a grandfather of six to Jonathan, Jocelynn Marie, Marcus, Ava, Rolando Jr. and Gianna Rose. A brother to his two sisters Rosina Salerno and Francine Salerno Cieslinski (Robert). An uncle to his nieces Heather Crognale and Jennifer Cherry. Michael was predeceased by his mother Carmella Salerno.
Due to COVID-19 we will not be holding a wake. A mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Christ The King Church of Yonkers. Internment immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery of Yonkers. Masks are required.
