Mary Samoyedny, born on August 14, 1931, died peacefully in her sleep on July 8, 2024 after a brief illness.
She was the daughter of Stephen and Anna Samoyedny. Mary was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Yonkers and had been a member of its Altar Society. She was a dedicated Legal Secretary until retiring many years ago, and she remained a skilled wordsmith with a great sense of humor. She is survived by her brother Henry and his wife Dorothy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Jaye Mills, Theresa Smith, Dan Smith, Helen Smith, Daniel Smith, Joseph Samoyedny, Anne Samoyedny, and Henry Samoyedny – all of whom she remained close with. She is predeceased by her brothers John, William, Joseph, Frank, Raymond and Edward, as well as her sisters Helen Mills and Stephanie Borgos. The family will be celebrating Mary’s life with a private graveside ceremony.
