John Delaney, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Wednesday June 7, 2017 at Adira at Riverside Nursing Home. He was 71 years old. He was born on July 15, 1945 to Harold and Marion Rudd Delaney in Yonkers where he was raised and educated graduating from Gorton High School. Mr. Delaney was a Physical Quality Control Tester at the Purdue Frederick Company in Yonkers and Totowa, N.J. from 1966 until his retirement in 2003. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed comedy and entertainment and was very knowledgeable about the histories of both. He was also an avid photographer of flowers and plants and had a large collection of photos of each. Mr. Delaney is survived by his sister, Ellen Delaney of Yonkers and two cousins, Elizabeth Delaney Kirk and her family of West Caldwell, N.J. and Patricia Pietropali and her family of Wappinger Falls. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday morning only from 9-10:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Monday June 12th at 11am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
