Born in 1918 in Rome, N.Y. to James and Margaret Malone, Eileen grew up in Yonkers, N.Y. where she attended St. Joseph’s Elementary and graduated from Commerce High. After the war in 1945, she married Walter Lemischak. Trained as an LPN, she graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School for Practical Nursing in 1959 and remained a dedicated nurse at St. Joseph’s for over 35 years where she was much loved by both staff and patients. At age 75, Eileen reluctantly retired from St. Joseph’s.
Eileen was a parishioner of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Yonkers (St. Mary’s) and was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiiary. In 1992 Eileen and family moved to Stormville, N.Y. where she joined the Golden Ages Senior Club in Patterson, N.Y. and became a parishioner of St. James’ Church in Carmel. She is predeceased by her husband and sisters Margaret McMahon and Agnes Howley. Eileen is survived by son Joseph Lemischak, his wife Janet, their children Joseph, James, and Karen of Lake Carmel, daughter Barbara Lemischak of Stormville and her son, Thomas Douglas, his wife May and Eileen’s only great-grandchild, TJ Douglas of Homes, N.Y.
