Andrew Francis Sullivan Jr.

Andrew, known to many as “Sonny”, was born on September 10, 1938 to Andrew and Mary Sullivan. He was raised and educated in Bronx, NY. Andrew was a Sergeant in the United States Army Reserves and was also a Press Supervisor for The Journal News (Gannett Suburban Newspaper) in Yonkers and Nyack for over 40 years, until his retirement in 1998.

Andrew was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith (Marshal); brothers Michael and John; sisters Eileen Meechan, Maureen Kavanagh, and Agnes Powers; son John Alleva; and grandson Sean Alleva.

Andrew is survived by his daughter Dorothy Sullivan and her wife, Tonimarie of East Stroudsburg, PA; daughter Susan Whitcomb (Alleva) and her husband, Andrew of Northport, NY; son Drew Sullivan and his wife, Marcy of Hampton, NJ; son Joseph Alleva and his wife, Deborah of Highland Falls, NY; and eleven grandchildren.

Those wishing to pay their respects to Andrew are invited to join the family from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, December 1 at Whalen and Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.

Flowers, or donations in Andrew’s memory are welcome (St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Fox Chase Cancer Center).
