YARMOUTH - Thomas Simmons Roux, 67, of Yarmouth, died on February 16, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones, after a long, courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.
He was born June 2, 1950, the son of Charles and Janice Roux. Tom grew up in Cape Elizabeth with brothers, Charles and Douglas, before the family moved to Yarmouth in 1966. There, Tom met and later married his high school sweetheart, Debbie Hanson, in 1971.
Tom was a graduate of Yarmouth High School and SMVTI, working at Yarmouth Lumber & Supplies and later at Hancock Lumber until he started his own business, TSR Consulting, providing drafting and estimating services.
Tom was a past member of the Lions Club and was active at Riverside Golf Course and the St. Peter's Golf Tournament, where he met lifelong, loyal friends who continued to visit Tom when he could no longer participate in his favorite pastime.
Tom enjoyed baseball, cribbage and music, and was known to break out in a rendition of his favorite song, "New York, New York," at celebrations.
Tom was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Charles.
He is survived by his wonderful wife of 46 years, Debbie, who ensured he was able to remain at home; his son, Joseph Roux, and wife, Bryony, and their three children, Phoebe, Graeme and Esme, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; his daughter, Allison Donovan, and husband, John, and their three children, Jack, Clara and Rhys, of Marblehead, Mass.; his brother, Doug Roux, and wife, Susan, of Yarmouth; his sister-in-law, Nancy Roux, of Yarmouth; as well as many other loving and supportive relatives and friends.
Tom bravely faced his long illness with resignation and a sense of humor, often letting everyone know "It is, what it is."
The family wishes to thank the amazing caregivers who befriended and provided support to Tom and the family in his last years.
