Julia Devereux Glynn, 78, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough, Maine. Daughter of Col. J. Ashton Devereux and Katharine Morse Devereux, she was born in Coral Gables, Florida, on June 21, 1945.
Julie, grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, attending the Bryn Mawr School, before proceeding to Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she earned Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Early Childhood Education.
She began her career as a kindergarten teacher in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Julie went on to specialize in pre-kindergarten special needs teaching within the Baltimore City Public Schools system, where she was recognized for her achievements.
She was an active volunteer in the Baltimore Junior League and the Colonial Dames of America and enjoyed a close connection to the community on Chebeague Island, Maine, where she and her family spent many treasured times.
Julie is survived by her sister Vail Traina of Portland, Maine, her son, T. Anthony Glynn III, daughter-in-law, Alison Tsoi, and granddaughter, Alexa Glynn - all of Chappaqua, New York.
A funeral mass will take place at Holy Martyrs Church in Falmouth, Maine, followed by a memorial service and burial on Chebeague Island in summer of 2024.
