Cumberland -George A. King passed away peacefully on February 1, 2015 at his son’s home in Cumberland, Maine surrounded by his loving family. George was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Ethel (Bolles) King, brother, Herbert E. King, Jr., and sister, Marjorie Martin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Leona (Day) King, and his children Glenn (son) and Mary King of Ft. Myers, Florida, Gary (son) and Elizabeth King of Cumberland, Maine, and Nancy (daughter) and Richard Sartorelli of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
George lived for 60 years in Medford, Massachusetts, running his own business before retiring to spend his summers at his home on Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford, New Hampshire and winters at his home in Ft. Myers, Florida. He is a proud Navy Veteran of World War II, serving in the North Atlantic. He was also a long time member of the Order of the Masons.
A funeral service will be held at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, Maine on Friday February 6, 2015 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at the funeral home. A private, burial will be held Monday February 9, 2015 at 11:00 am at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody, Massachusetts.
