Zhane Paul Thompson passed away suddenly at the tender age of 16 in a tragic accident on Saturday, May 23, 2015 while riding quads with friends and family up in Tampico. Zhane was born in Yakima, Washington on January 17, 1999.
Zhane was a very loving young man. He brought so much joy and laughter to his friends and family, and was a comforting soul. If someone was having a bad day, Zhane was the one who would be quick to give a hug, a warm smile or words of encouragement to anyone who needed it. He always made sure that others were taken care of and happy - he wanted them to know that everything would be okay.
Zhane was always buzzing with energy. His passions were exhibited in many areas - he was a member of the West Valley High School Marching Band and played saxophone. His band had recently celebrated their first place win at Whistler this past spring. He loved his marching band family, along with his fellow teammates on the school track team. He took great pride in wearing the Ram uniform, be it during track meets or during his band performances.
Zhane was also fascinated by anything technology-related and had plans to explore the DigiPen Institute of Technology this summer as a potential college for his future.
Zhane had just gotten his driver's license this year and he loved to drive. From an early age, Zhane was his grandparents' best helper. He would work in their yard, do odd jobs like cutting & stacking wood- whatever they needed, he was always there to offer his help with that big grin of his. Once he got his license, he would run errands for his family every chance he got. He even enjoyed taking his little brother, Riley, to and from school or track practice. He loved his little brother to the moon and back. Riley was his sidekick -like the Robin to his Batman. Zhane also had a great group of friends. They
would come over to hang out, just sitting in his room, listening to music and catching up on all things teenager. The kids shared a love of the "Dr. Who"series, and looked forward to catching up on the latest episodes together. Some of Zhane's favorite times were the vacations spent with his family. Whether it was up in the mountains camping with his Dad, brother & the four-wheeling crew or with his family & friends in Florence, Oregon riding the Dunes - he was always that shining light bursting with energy and laughter.
Zhane was deeply loved by his Mom, Dad & Riley and his giving heart & bright smile will be forever missed.
Zhane is survived by his parents, Shane & Missy Thompson; his brother, Riley Thompson; his grandparents, Paul & Jan Weigand and Marilyn Coleman & Gene Berger of Yakima, WA, and Glenn & Allyson Thompson of Naches, WA; his Uncle Aaron & Michell Thompson of Selah, WA, Aunt Rachel & Mani Sandoval and Uncle Dez & Michele Weigand of Yakima, WA. Zhane is also survived by numerous cousins, many great friends, and one very special girl, Brittany.
