Sherry Lee (Buchanan) Kennedy, 73, passed away on August 18, 2018, at Cottage of the Meadow Hospice Care in Yakima, Washington. She had been ill for quite some time. Sherry was born September 19, 1944, in Belton, Texas, to Thelma (Turnbo) & Archie Buchanan.
She attended Belton High School. She married Andrew Kennedy on November 30, 1963, at Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton, Texas. They moved to Yakima, Washington, after Andy served his time in the U.S. Army. They had one son, Robert. After retiring from Wray’s Food & Drug in Yakima, she enjoyed traveling the Pacific Northwest with her mother & sister & making yearly trips back to Texas. Her first & last stop on trips to Texas was always at Whataburger, her favorite restaurant.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andy; father, Archie & brother, Larry. She is survived by her son, Robert (Kathy) of Temple, Texas; mother, Thelma Buchanan and sister, LoNelle Belcher, both of Temple, Texas; three grandchildren, Sgt. Antony Martinez, currently stationed at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland and currently deployed to Afghanistan, Steven Kennedy and Jessica Kennedy, both of Yakima, Washington; sisters-in-law, Donna Mascarenas (Joe) of Yakima, Washington, and Marilyn Buchanan Rajkowski (Dennis) of Waco, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, many friends, and her beloved dog, Mary.
A time of visitation will be Thursday, August 23, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home, 1010 West Yakima Ave., Yakima, Washington. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 at West Hills Memorial Park in Yakima, Washington.
