Bob was proud to have served our country during WWII, working in the shipyards as a welder. He married Betty Fee and together they had three beautiful sons. She preceded him in death in 1981. In 1986, he married Karen Lunning, while both were working at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Previously, they each had suffered the hurt of losing their spouse.
He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and Washington Bluegrass Association. Bob was a lifelong musician and master craftsman, constructing and repairing many banjos and guitars over the years. He had made instruments that many of Yakima’s well-known musicians had used to make beautiful harmony.
Bob was a man who could pull your leg every once in a while, lend a non- judgmental listening ear, and give great wisdom on surviving life’s struggles. He also was a man very devoted to his faith and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Karen, sons Robert Waldbauer Jr. and Leon Waldbauer; step-daughter Lori Nulliner, step-son Greg Lunning; sisters Rose Dalton of New York and Vi Zeppel of Ohio; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Betty, son Ronnie Waldbauer, 5 sisters, 4 brothers and several infant siblings.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm, Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
