Richard E. Short was born in Hollywood, California on May 12, 1940. He went to join Heavenly Father on May 17, 2018 in Yakima, Washington. He was married 48 years to his wife, Christine (Butler) Cooper.
Richard worked for the U.S.D.A. in research for 32 years. He invented and built experimental equipment for work on the elimination of the apple codling moth.
Besides his wife, Richard is survived by a daughter, DeAnna Short and a step-son, Milton (Sonny) Cooper (Karie). He is preceded in death by his son, Daniel E. Short and his parents, Fred E. and Ruby (Dudley) Short. He is survived by five grandchildren, (Tia and Michael Short,) and Nathan, Mason, and Brenon Cooper; and nine great grandchildren, of which Richard helped raise five of them.
