Linda was born September 11, 1943 in Wapato, Washington to Lowrain (Rainy) and Helen (Day) Shroll.
Linda was raised in the Yakima Valley and spent her childhood on a farm. She attended Ahtanum Valley and Marks Elementary Schools and graduated from West Valley High School in 1961. After graduating high school Linda worked at Don's Drive-In, Gilbert Fruit, and later retired from Payless (Rite-aid) where she was a manager in the fabric department. She formed many dear friendships there.
Linda enjoyed life; camping with her family, sewing, crafts and other hobbies. Her passion was sewing, often bringing her work home with her. Every year her
grandchildren looked forward to their matching Christmas PJ's. When she was no longer able to sew much, Nascar became her passion. According to Brently, Rusty Wallace was her favorite driver.
In 1961, Fred saw Linda carrying her groceries and offered her a ride in his yellow jeep and that was the beginning of their story.
In 1963, Linda married Frederic David Ashbaugh, the love of her life. Together they had three amazing sons. They all worked hard, played hard, and had fun for 52 years. All the while teaching their boys the important things in life and instilling values that have made the boys who they are today. Later in life Fred and Linda looked forward to their annual trips to Lincoln City, Oregon.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jacqueline Collier, her brothers Darrell and Garry Day, her niece Cheri Collier-Ausland and Nephew Bobby Collier.
She is survived by her loving husband Fred, her three sons; Jeff (Kara), Fred Jr. (Helen), Dan (Jerilyn) and grandchildren Breanna (Logan), Brently, Travis (Lindsay), Carly, Lauren, Conner and Chloe; as well as her great grand-children Jax and Carson. She is also survived by her brothers Henry and Rick Day, her sister Sharma (Eric) Williamson, her in-laws; Sharon Kendrick, Bertha Day, John (Lynn) Ashbaugh, Dolores Dixon, and Janet (Rich) Schuller. The bond between Linda and Fred's twin sister was a special one. They helped raise each other's kids. It was like two families in one. Much love to her nephews Cliff and Doug and her twin nieces Tammi and Terri whom she loved as if they were her own, as well as all her other nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
The family would like to express many thanks to the nursing staff at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital ICU.
