Letty Ann Ross Ginn died peacefully at Memorial Hospital on March 28, 2011, following a brief illness. She was born on October 15, 1921, in The Dalles, Oregon, the only surviving child of Clifford C. and Lelia Radford Ross.
Letty Ann moved to Yakima with her family in 1925 from Hood River, Oregon. She graduated from Yakima High School in 1939 and the University of Washington in 1943. She was a life-long member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Following college, she resided in Chicago, Illinois; Portland, Oregon; and Boston, Massachusetts, before returning to her Yakima roots in 1960. In 1965, she married Dr. W. Shuler Ginn, with whom she spent 26 wonderful years of community involvement, travel and family activity.
Her community service included United Way, YWCA (past president), Capitol Theatre, Planned Parenthood, and St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. Her deepest connection, however, was to Memorial Hospital.
Her father, Clifford C. Ross, was an original hospital founder and her late husband, Dr. Shuler Ginn, was the hospital's first chief of staff. She was involved with Children's Village from its inception and considered it one of the outstanding accomplishments and benefits to the special needs children of the Yakima Valley. Letty Ann served as an active member of the Memorial Board Foundation (past Board Chair) from 1989 until 2009, and as an emeritus member of the Board until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Lelia Ross, a brother and sister, her husband, W. Shuler Ginn, M.D., and a grandson, Whitney S. Hall. She is survived by her children, Ross and Priscilla Campbell, West and Sheri Campbell, Joanne and Arthur Hall, Rand and Judy Ginn, nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Englewood Heights, where Letty Ann resided for the past five years, for their care and support. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Memorial Foundation, Children's Village or Cottage in the Meadow.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 1, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 4105 Richey Road, Yakima. Keith & Keith Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
