She was born February 17, 1929 in Hardin, Montana to Roy and Frances Chambers. June and her mother moved to Columbus, Montana when she was about 11 or 12 years of age. June attended school in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1947. That same year she met and married our dad, Edgar Carr. June and Edgar had two daughters, Sandy (Perkins) and Jeannie. We all moved to Washington State in 1957, living in Anacortes, Kennewick and finally moved to Yakima in 1960. Unfortunately June and Ed parted ways in 1964. Up to that time, June had been a stay-at-home mom.
June entered the work force then and became employed as school secretary at Jefferson Elementary and then at Eisenhower High School. She eventually entered state service at DSHS and retired as a clerical supervisor in 1921.
June was a member of the Eastern Star in her early years and loved riding horseback with her grandfather when she still lived in Montana. She loved singing and playing the piano and had many other hobbies including tole, glass painting and knitting. She was a wonderful seamstress making quite a lot of our school clothes and our formals when we still lived at home. Mom also loved to swim and sang in her church choir and the resident choir at Living Care Retirement Community where she lived the last few years.
June is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Carr) McCall Perkins and Jeannie Carr both of Yakima; two grandsons, Shane McCall of Baltimore, MD and Matheu McCall of Greenwood, SC; and a sister, Lynn Walters of Trinidad, CO.
Sandra and Jeannie would like to thank the staff at Cottage in the Meadow for their wonderful care and consideration while June was there.
A Celebration of her life will be held in Meyer Auditorium at Living Care Retirement Community, 215 N. 40th Ave., Yakima on Tuesday March 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.keithandkeith.com.
