Joe Charles Gentry, age 85, longtime Yakima area resident died April 16, 2011. He was born October 21, 1925 in Coweta, Oklahoma to parents, Charles Henry Gentry and Doris Emma (Williams) Gentry . Joe served his country with a longtime commitment in the US Army during the WWII era and also in the Vietnam Conflict. He had been employed with Associated Grocers for many years as well. He was an avid woodworker, enjoyed gardening and cared very much about his relationships with people.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores; two daughters, Pamela and husband Geoffrey Thorlin, of Sugar Land, Texas and Alice Gentry, of Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Dan Gentry, of Union Gap, WA; four grandchildren, Michelle Bertrand, Eric Thorlin, Amy Summe and Erin Stuhr; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Benjamin Summe; a brother and sister in law, Glen and Glenna Gentry; also two sisters, Minnie Brady and Peggy and her husband Kenneth Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00PM, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Chapel. Interment to follow in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
