Janet Roark, 63, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Garden Village Nursing Facility. She was born in Yakima on November 19, 1953 to Max and Marjorie Roark.
Janet’s life changed in early adulthood after being diagnosed as Bipolar, then due to medical issues beyond her control, was later confined to a limited lifestyle. During her extended illnesses, she was never a complainer. She accepted her destiny in such a positive, encouraging way. We were all amazed with the constant desire and strength she had to survive.
She is survived by a son, Eric Lewis Powell (Sarah), mother, Marjorie Brookshire (Roark), sisters: Nancy Graf (Dale), Connie Kurbitz and John Schwab, nieces: Amy Ice (Josh), Nicole Kurbitz, and Amanda McClaflin (Bryan), nephews: Dale (Sonny) Graf (Whitney), Brett Graf and Kourtney Durrett, great nieces: Rhiley & Emma Mead-Graf, great nephew, Tré Graf.
She was preceded in death by her father, Max Roark, and sister, Carol Lerner (Roark).
A private family gathering will be held in her honor.
