Gordon N. Young, 90, passed away peacefully in his home August 4, 2017. He was a life-long resident of Yakima, Washington, graduating from Yakima High School (A.C. Davis) and proudly joining the Navy in order to serve his country during WWII. A natural-born salesman who loved talking with people, Gordon built a successful career working in furniture sales and interior design for Windress and Schultz Furniture.
Gordon loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed cars, traveling, telling jokes and playing tennis. He was a great tennis player and was one of the founding members of the Yakima Tennis Club. He was adored by his family, friends, and everyone who met him. Gordon will be missed so much because he was loved by so many.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 43 years, Billie, his children Nancy Norris (Barry), Jeff Young (Leslie), and Billie’s children, Denise Filliol (John), Don Carrell (Marcie), grandchildren Nicole, Dennis, Neal, Ashley, Alexis, Grace, Sadie, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded by his parents, Russell and Margery Young, brother Russell Young Jr., and sons Rand Young and Bradford Young.
Gordon’s family is deeply grateful for the care and support given to them by friends, neighbors, and family. A special thank you to the staff at Landmark Care and Rehabilitation, The Naches Lions Club, Memorial Hospice, and Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Gordon at the Yakima Tennis Clubhouse Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Star Lodge, Yakima Memorial Hospital Hospice, and The Naches Lions Club
