Dorothy was born May 25, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Leo and Elizabeth Jeka. She graduated from Holy Trinity School and Pulaski High School in Milwaukee. She served as President of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and graduated from Carroll College in 1956. She taught fourth and fifth grade elementary school in Franklin, Wisconsin.
Dorothy and Don Picatti were married August 17, 1957 at St. James Catholic Church in Franklin, Wisconsin by Father Darbinowicz. They returned to Yakima, where they began their life together.
Dorothy enjoyed being active in several community organizations. She served as a President of Junior League and as a Board Member of Perry Technical Institute. She was also a Board Member of the Yakima Women’s Century Club, Antiquarians, and volunteered at Gilbert Elementary School, among many other community projects.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Donald of Yakima; her daughter Lisa and husband Daniel; her two sons, Michael and Douglas and his wife Darlene; her sister, Josephine Eberhardt and her husband Daniel, and their sons, Daniel H. Jr. and his wife Sharon, and Mark J and his wife Kyna; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. Max, Nicholas, Jack, Eric, and Cassidy are her beloved grandchildren. Sisters, Eleanor, Betty, and Catherine preceded her in death.
Mass of Christina Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Holy Family Catholic Church.
