10/17/1964 – 5/18/2014
David (Dave) Upson was born October 17, 1964 to Dwaine Upson and Arlene (Kay) Moser Howley. The oldest of three children, Dave was Selah born and raised. He was a country boy at heart and no matter where life took him his country roots always brought him home.
Dave was the last of a dying breed to say the least. All those old country songs… they were about him. He was wild and free, just going with the flow and ended up wherever the wind carried him. He was a hardworking man who wasn’t afraid to sweat or get his hands dirty. Even though his free spirit took him anywhere on a beck and call his heart was tamed by the love of his life Janet Upson (Piercy). They had three beautiful children who were the light of his life. Dave wasn’t the traditional man or father but he had a way of giving you exactly what you needed exactly when you needed it, even if you hadn’t realized it yet. Dave was blessed with a grandson in 2010 and there was a spot in his heart that was just for that little man. He was a proud Papa, in his eyes that boy walked on water.
As hard as he worked Dave played harder. He liked to wet a line and he was on that bike every chance he got. Dave was a free spirit so it was hard to tell where he was going to be on any given day, but wherever he was at he was the life of the party. He had a contagious smile and an infectious laugh. Dave was a man of his word, he would say “At the end of the day all a man’s got is his word” and his was worth something. He was a friend to all and would do anything for anybody not expecting anything in return. Dave touched everyone he came into contact with and he’s got a special place in their hearts. Dave was a man you don’t meet every day and you certainly don’t forget.
Dave was preceded in death by his dad Dwaine Upson. He is survived by his dad Billy Howley, mother Arlene (Kay) Moser Howley, Brother Don (Renee), Sister Sherry (Dennis), aunt Alta Mae Kelly, uncle Ronnie Moser, uncle Vernon Upson, and uncle Jim Jones (Upson), son David (JR), daughter Hali (Princess), son Richie (Coyote), Grandson Isaiah (Little Man), cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
