YAKIMA - Charlotte Marie Dobbs, 97, of Yakima, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday August 8, 2012. Born May 11, 1915 in Blunt, South Dakota, she was the fourth of six children born to Peter and Nellie Jorgensen. She is survived by her three children, Sharma (Marc) Hanna, Roderick (Pat) Dobbs, and Gayla (Tim) Bellamy. Charlotte has five grandchildren - Christopher Dobbs, Nathaniel Dobbs, Michelle Dobbs, Maggie Bellamy, Becca Bellamy, and seven great grandchildren.
She married William Gerald Dobbs on November 11, 1945. Prior to her marriage she worked as a secretary in an insurance office and continued as an employee of Terril Lewis & Wilke Insurance Agency until her retirement at the age of 72.
She was a skilled seamstress and became obsessed with quilting later in her life, turning out many beautiful bed-sized quilts. Charlotte lived a long and beautiful life enjoying traveling, eating, going to quilt shops and seminars, eating, going to yard sales, and best of all going out to eat.
To the very end she kept her delightful sense of humor and the twinkle in her eye.
Many thanks to the entire staff of Chesterly Court for the loving care she received during her residency there. Thanks also to the other poor fabric obsessed souls of the many quilt shops she frequented who she has met over the years and shared their friendship and passion, especially Margie.
A memorial service will be held at Wiley Heights Covenant Church, 12504 Gilbert Rd., Yakima, on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. To share a memory of Charlotte visit www.keithandkeith.com.
