She was born Sept. 22, 1939 to Olivia & Herbert Reich in Stockton CA. Betty was an only child & grew up in San Francisco CA. and graduated from Calpoly High in 1956. She then met Johnny Hand who was in the Coast Guard and they soon married on June 23, 1956. John and Betty made their home in Livermore CA, where they raised two wonderful daughters, Sandra & Pamela.
Betty worked for the Unified School District. John and Betty retired June of 1990, sold their home of 30 years and then moved to Gleed, WA. Betty was always taking care of others. She then became a Hospice Aide of 5 years, there she enjoyed taking care of hospice patients, and met wonderful people and made many friendships. Betty's family was her life. She enjoyed cooking and baking especially during the holidays. For those who knew Betty, knew she also enjoyed traveling. Her many adventures were the US, Alaska, Hawaii and parts of Europe. Betty's life would seem too short for many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Although she was so frail in her final days, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. Betty was truly blessed with the love of the Lord, a wonderful husband of 54 years and a wonderful and loving family.
Betty will be deeply missed and remain in our hearts forever.

I Am Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I am following the path God laid for me,
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
Be not burdened with time of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a love one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free.
