Barbara passed away on October 17, 2023 in Yakima, WA after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for the past several years. She was born on March 8, 1938 in Yakima, WA to Harry Leonard Verwolf and Dorothy Garvelink Verwolf.
Barbara was raised in the Yakima Valley and lived her entire life there. She attended Yakima Valley High School and graduated in 1956. In her youth she attendee First Presbyterian Church where she made several lifelong friends. She later attended Ahtanum Pioneer Church where she was an active member and raised her three children. She and her husband Del also spent many happy years attending Wiley Union Church.
She loved being outdoors, working in her yard, picnicking in the mountains, swimming, waterskiing and snowmobiling just to name a few of her past activities. She was an amazing seamstress and created many beautiful clothes for her children and herself. Mom was a great lover of fashion and was always put together from head to toe. She never had a hair out of place and wouldn’t think of leaving the house without her lipstick on. She was a wonderful cook and baker who enjoyed entertaining, always setting a beautiful table.
After her children were raised, she became a travel agent which gave her the opportunity to see many beautiful and interesting parts of the world. She enjoyed this time of her life immensely.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Harry Leonard Verwolf and Dorothy Garvelink Verwolf and her husband Delmer R Bennett.
She is survived by her daughters Cindy (Swaim) Nelson, Debra (Swaim)(John) Kupanoff and son Doug Swaim, her grandchildren Kayla Nelson, Trifon (Brittany) Kupanoff, Dimitri (Rachael) Kupanoff, Jacob Swaim and Elijah Swaim and 8 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park on Thursday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m.
