Shirley Ann Minogue, age 71, of Columbus Ohio and formerly of Springfield and Celina Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 10:30 am on Tuesday September 24, 2024, at the Laurels of West Columbus. She was born on September 27, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio to the late George J. Jr. and Ruth J. (Isselstein) Fornes. She graduated from Wehrle High School Columbus in 1970 and attended The Ohio State University.
Shirley married her 1st husband, Stephen B. Hayes on December 1, 1979. They were married 10 years and welcomed a daughter, Rachel A. Hayes, on December 17, 1982. She married her 2nd husband John M. Minogue October 16th, 1996, who in addition to her parents, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Rachel (Michael) Longstreth of Delaware, Ohio; two grandsons Aiden J. and Eric S. Longstreth; two sisters, Karen (Tim) Rose of Hilliard and Linda Fornes of Reisterstown, Maryland; two brothers, Gerald (Kathy) Fornes of Pataskala and David Fornes of Columbus; six nephews, James, Kevin, Greg, Brian, Gabriel, and Connor; niece-in-laws Becca, Melani and Madison; great-nieces Emma and Layla; great-nephew Donovan; two loving aunts she was very fond of Elaine Farie of Mt. Vernon and Eleanor Galmish of Naperville, Illinois; and many cousins.
Shirley loved spending time gardening, taking photos, going to hot air balloon shows, and playing board games with her friends and family. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes, going to or listening to almost every game. Music was an important part of Shirley’s life, with band favorites The 5th Dimension, Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass, and The Carpenters. She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Springfield, Ohio, where she enjoyed Bible study, choir, and being in the Christmas programs. Shirley loved to laugh and had fun in almost every situation she was in, usually saying things like, “Stop and smell the roses” and “Slow down, where’s the fire”. She had a passion for helping people, donating her time and money, and giving blood through the Red Cross as often as she could. Shirley knew how precious life is and time with those we love shouldn’t be wasted or taken for granted. Above everything, was her faith and love for Jesus, and right now you can know that she is dancing and laughing with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday October 1st, 2024, at Schoedinger Funeral Home, Worthington, Ohio. Funeral services will follow, at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Sam Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Lewis Center, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's and Dementia research. You can honor Shirley’s memory by always taking pictures, making memories, and lending a helping hand whenever possible.
