Ron was born January 27, 1945 in Washington, DC to parents Cab and Marvel Brewer. He passed away on September 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to honor his memory are his wife of 57 years, Diane; sons Dan (Holly) and Chris; granddaughter Danielle; grandson Chase; sister Shirl Yancey; and brothers Wayne and Kab.
On October 22, 1966 he married Diane who he met at the Southeast Church of Christ in Washington, DC. Ron attended the University of Maryland where he earned a degree in Economics. After military service, he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC. In 1980 he moved to Kansas City to work in the USDA’s regional office and computer center where he retired as a Contract Officer responsible for some of the industry’s largest computer hardware acquisitions.
Ron and Diane moved to Jackson, TN after retirement and he earned a Bible Degree from Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, TN. They were active members of the North Jackson Church of Christ. Ron pursued his passion of studying the Bible and teaching adult classes for the church. They were active members of the church’s visitation program hosting devotionals on Sunday afternoons in nursing homes in their community. Ron and Diane enjoyed opening their home as hosts for fellowship with members of their church community.
Ron and Diane moved to Columbus, OH in 2014 to be near their son and his family. They worshipped at the Fishinger and Kenny Church of Christ where Ron was a Deacon and continued to teach adult Bible classes. Ron was a true scholar of the Bible. He spent many hours each week studying the Bible and preparing his lessons. Ron continued to teach and delivered his final Bible class in August.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at 10:00 am at the Fishinger and Kenny Church of Christ, 1130 Fishinger Rd. Ron’s funeral will follow at 11:00 am with Greg Tidwell, Dr. Clay Brown, and Brian Giselbach officiating. A gathering with military graveside honors will be held on Monday, October 2 at 12:00 pm.
