Paul David Kuhn, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Worthington, Ohio on September 25, 2024. Paul was born August 28, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio to his parents Henry and Mary Kuhn who preceded Paul in death.
Paul was an exceptionally talented musician. As many musicians of his era were – he was inspired by the Beatles’ appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. He played guitar and sang rock and roll in many local Cincinnati bands over the years. These included Sorry Charlie, The Twist, Haymarket Riot, Teazer, and Uncle Buster among others. Recently, he was passionate about creating his own music, and has 3 CDs produced with the help of his also exceptionally talented friends. This music is all instrumental and includes very calming, beautiful tunes. His lifelong friendships with many in the Cincinnati community of musicians were so very important to him, and he loved to share stories of times with these friends and band jobs they played over the years.
Although he later graduated from Northern Kentucky University, Paul spoke often of his years at the University of Cincinnati and was a lifelong Bearcat. He also worked hard to obtain his MBA from Franklin University in Columbus and was an adjunct professor there for a time, teaching other future MBA students. Paul’s undergraduate degree was in History. His love of history and politics inspired our son Kevin to also earn his History degree from NKU.
Paul retired in 2017 after 20+ years at Verizon Wireless and its predecessors. He also spent a large part of his career at Cincinnati Microwave where he developed his passion for customer service and love for auto racing and beautiful cars. In addition to his desire to provide the highest level of customer service at all times, he took great joy in his job as a manager to mentor the employees on his teams to achieve their greatest career potential.
Paul was also an avid sports fan. He was a huge fan of the Boston Celtics during the Larry Bird years. He was a Cincinnati Bengals super fan and season ticket holder until the strike of 1987 when his years long boycott of the NFL began. He had started to ease up on this only in the last few years! Still a football fan, he focused on the UC Bearcats and became a season ticket holder even after moving to Columbus. Our son Jeremy now carries on this love and tradition. He was also a fan of UC basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. His love of racing led to many trips to Mid-Ohio Race Track over the years, and inspired Jeremy to begin racing autocross in the 1990 Mazda Miata that they purchased together several years ago.
Paul was a wonderful husband and devoted and loving father, spending time and developing different shared interests with each of his sons. Even during the struggles with his health over many years, he always maintained a positive attitude and managed to defy all the medical expectations along the way. Our family is so grateful for the love and support of family and friends, especially during these last years. We are also so incredibly thankful for the caring support and loving kindness of everyone at Ohio Health Hospice and Kobacker House. We have had the support of so many wonderful people over almost 3 years, but especially to Jocelynn and Natasha – we could not have made it thru this without you.
Paul is survived by his wife Lisa Kuhn; sons Kevin and Jeremy (Lindsey) Kuhn; sister Becky (Tim) Stallsworth; sister-in-law Laura (Andy) Smith; Aunt Betty Petry; along with nieces and nephews Christopher (Celine) Stallsworth, Ben (Lindsay) Stallsworth, Abby Stallsworth, Abbey Smith and Eric Smith; and great nieces and nephews Reid, Ethan & Eloise Stallsworth; as well as his faithful, loyal canine companion Sparky.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Paul may be made to Ohio Health Hospice/Kobacker House or Worthington Presbyterian Church.
