It is with broken hearts that we say goodbye to Monica Swint, loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Monica was born March 16, 1943 to Charles and Mollie Stusek in Cleveland, Ohio. The oldest of 5 siblings, Monica spent her childhood in Wickliffe, Ohio among her large Slovenian family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended Wickliffe High School and was in the choir. She went on to Case Western Reserve School of Nursing where she graduated with a nursing degree.
In the early 70’s, she moved to Columbus, Ohio and stayed to raise her two sons, Matt and Mitch. She worked a variety of jobs as a nurse and moved on to the State of Ohio where she retired from Bureau of Worker’s Compensation.
You knew when Monica arrived. From her honks in the driveway, her beloved ‘YoooHoooo’ to her infamous knock on the door. She absolutely loved life. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan – Jim Thome was her favorite in case you did not know, loved her Brownies and you would be hard pressed to not see her watching golf on a Sunday afternoon. Her laugh was infectious and loud and you could not help but laugh right along with her. She had a heart of gold and embraced everyone she met with open love and affection. If you were lucky enough to get a hug or kiss, you know she never stopped at one and they were always the best.
She would sit at your kitchen table until the wee hours discussing politics, history or the musical stylings of her favorite artists, Frank Sinatra or Luciano Pavarotti usually with a glass of Jack Daniels in her hand, of course.
Monica left us too soon on June 8, 2022. She will be forever missed by her sons, Matt (Kristine) Swint, Mitchell (Dawn) Swint, her beloved grandbabies Abigail, Zachary, Ashley and Amalia who she absolutely adored. Her siblings, Lyle (Joni) Stusek , Carla (John) Simmons, Patty Brennan and Mark (Madelyn) Stusek; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom held a special place in her heart.
As a devout Catholic, she lives eternally reunited with those that went before her - Charles and Mollie Stusek, her cousin Sandy, and longtime best friends Bobby J and Kathy Acklin.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10am on Monday, June 27, 2022 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 6667 Wallings Road, North Royalton, OH, 44133.
We will love and miss you, lahko noč, Momma.
