Kevin Matthew Rank

Kevin Matthew Rank went to be with his Lord and Savior December 9th 2024 after an extended illness. Born October 25,1984, Kevin was a 2003 graduate of Thomas Worthington HS. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from Rutgers University and completed a Masters in Music Performance from Southern Methodist University. Kevin was a dedicated and passionate teacher of percussion for scores of students in grades 6-12 and beyond. He helped many high school students prepare for successful auditions that led to their acceptance into prestigious collegiate percussion programs. In addition, Kevin appeared frequently as a guest artist, clinician and performer in the Dallas Fort-Worth area and in numerous music festivals nationally. His selection as a Fellow in the Blackbird Creative Lab was a pivotal highlight of his career and indicative of his keen interest and support for New Music. Through all these experiences, Kevin treasured the friendships he gained along the way, and will be remembered by many for his ability to listen well, to persevere during the extreme hardship of his illness, and for his sense of humor.

Kevin is survived by his mother and stepfather, Deborah and Martin Fuller, his father, Tom Rank, and his sister, Erin Vance (Matthew.)

A memorial service will be held January 25th, 2025 at 11 AM at New Albany Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin’s name to Sarcoma Alliance, Steps for Sarcoma or The Branch Church in Dallas.
