

JoAnn was born April 19, 1934 to the late William Forest Mangus and Mary Catherine Mock Mangus in Cleveland, OH. JoAnn’s family moved to Windsor, OH in 1941. She graduated from Grand Valley High School in 1952 and attended her freshman year of college at Miami University in Oxford, OH.
In June 1953, JoAnn married the late Ralph Edward Hopick of Orwell, OH. The two spent the next 28 living in the Windsor and Orwell areas with their children raising quarter horses, working with the Northern Ohio Quarter Horse Association and as 4-H advisors to the Mustang Wranglers. JoAnn completed her Associates in Arts degree from Kent State University and earned her real estate license.
JoAnn and Ralph relocated to Warren, OH in 1984 where she was a member of several service organizations and sold real estate. JoAnn served as president of the Warren Area Board of Realtors in 1992. While living in Warren, JoAnn fought a tough battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Jo won the battle and was declared cancer free in 1998.
In 1996, the couple moved to Columbus, OH to be closer to family. JoAnn worked as the financial manager for North Broadway Children’s Center until her retirement. She was a member of the Clintonville Women’s Club and enjoyed playing Mahjong with fellow members.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her son, Philip Hopick and husband, Ralph. She is survived by her daughter, Cherie Stevenson of Columbus, OH, two granddaughters, 4 great-grandchildren, a sister, Sandra Dzurik of Bainbridge, OH and brother, Gary of Brooklyn, NY and her beloved dog, Corky.
A visitation for JoAnn will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Schoedinger Funeral & Cremation Service, 6699 North High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 PM.
