October 16th, 1958 - October 27th, 2024
Jeffrey Gilbert Lowder, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27th, 2024, at the age of 66 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was known for his kind heart, infectious humor and unwavering dedication to his career, family and his community.
Born on October 16th, 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio, the eldest son of Gilbert and Virginia Lowder. Jeff spent the majority of his childhood in Columbus, Ohio with his four brothers, being active in sports and testing their mother’s patience. After graduating from Whetstone High School, he served in the Air Force for four years. While serving in the Ohio Air National Guard, he attended Franklin University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and began his career with the family business at Lowder Sales, Inc. During his 43 years at Lowder Sales, he served as President of the company for over 25 years. Throughout his career in the plumbing manufacturing industry, Jeff forged lifelong relationships with manufactures, wholesalers, plumbers and industry professionals alike. Jeff served his customers as if their business was his own and treated their employees as if they were family. Jeff’s selfless dedication to the industry was admired by many and will be the pillars that his company carries into the next generation.
Above all Jeff was devoted to his family. He shared 41 years of marriage with his loving wife Peggy Baumgartner. Together, they raised two daughters Amanda and Samantha. Jeff created special memories with his family over innumerable meals and family vacations. As a long time resident of Westerville, Ohio, Jeff devoted much of his time to the community. For over 20 years, he volunteered at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, decorating throughout the liturgical seasons, teaching PSR and serving as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Some of his favorite hobbies included playing guitar, being an avid sportsman, reading, traveling, watching sports, and telling terrible Dad jokes. The word “no” was not in Jeff’s vocabulary. He embodied selflessness with his wholehearted desire to help others. He will be greatly missed by many, but his legacy and sense of humor will live on forever.
