Barbara "Jeanne" Wright, 84, passed away on January 31, 2022 - finally succumbing to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma after a courageous 21-year fight. Jeanne and twin sister, Jan, were born on August 12, 1937 to Walter and Sarah Gearhart McAboy. After graduating from South High School, she married another South grad, John Wright, and traveled to Huntsville, Alabama where both Jeanne and John worked at the Redstone Arsenal Army Post before returning to Central Ohio where she raised her family.
Music and athletics played a large role throughout her life. She was a long-time choir member at Dublin Community Church and later, Northwest Christian Church. She also enjoyed her time in the Chit Chat Club and Mr. and Mrs. Club. In addition to bowling and golf, she enjoyed coaching her daughters in youth softball and played the game herself. If she wasn't playing, she was in the stands cheering loudly (very loudly!) for all her children and grandchildren in whatever activity they were involved. She loved traveling with family and friends and visited places across the United States, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates. In her "spare time", she worked full-time at Dublin Veterinary Clinic (and brought home a few dogs and cats along the way), Headlee Office Supply and Merck MedCo. . In most recent years, one would most likely find her shopping or concentrating over online puzzles.
Survived by her children, Julie (David) Colley, Lynda Wright, John (Linda) Wright and Lisa Wright; her grandchildren, Jen (Mike) King and Justin (Jaclyn) Gafford and her great grandchildren - Quentin King, Grant Gafford, Claire Gafford, and Adeleine King; former spouse, John Wright; brother-in-law, Bill Tilley; her step-grandchildren, Lauren (Carter), Ryan (Jenna), Alex, and Michelle (Ross) and their families, as well as many nephews, nieces and loving friends.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, sister Joan Zieleck and twin sister Janet "Jan" Tilley.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 23 at 2:00 pm at the Northwest Christian Church, 1340 Fishinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio. Her family will receive visitors from Noon to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
A fierce and stubborn (her children get it honestly) fighter of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma for over two decades, the family encourages donations to either the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
