William “Bill” Buckner Rownd, Jr., 67, formerly of Louisiana and California, passed away on August 2, 2011 in Marietta, Georgia. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 1, 1944 and lived in Kennesaw, Georgia with his wife, Rhonda Glore Rownd. He is the son of the late William B. Rownd, Sr. and the late Jeanette Cain of Mississippi. Along with his wife, Rhonda, he is survived by his daughter, Rebecca and her husband Diego Reza of Tacoma, Washington and daughter, Stacy and her husband Daniel Gray of Cumming, Georgia. He is also survived by his brother Col. Thomas B. Cain of Fort Bliss, Texas; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry and Eleanor Glore of Blairsville, GA; brother-in-law Steven and his wife Sandy Glore of Brooks, GA; sister-in-law Janice and her husband Ryan Petosky of Spring City, PA. and several nieces and nephews. Bill is a veteran who proudly served his country in Cuba and then Vietnam, as a helicopter pilot for the U.S.Navy from 1962-1968. Following the time he was in the service, he became a licensed construction contractor for the state of California, while also working as a detective for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Dept. He later was a commercial building contractor in the states of Hawaii and Mississippi before he relocated to Georgia. Friends will be received from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA. 30188. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 5, 2011 at 11:00 am from the Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Wallace Wheeles, Senior Pastor of Kennesaw United Methodist Church officiating.
