Robert Hess Rhodes

Robert “Dusty” Hess Rhodes, age 92, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022. Dusty was born in Bisbee, AZ, to the late Boyd Muse Rhodes and Lu Hess McBride. Dusty retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his USAF career, he was stationed in Germany, Iraq, Philippines, and Taiwan as a Traveling Avionics Instructor. After his military career, Dusty went to work for the Georgia Tech Research Institute for 44 years as an Electronics Specialist. He retired in June 2022.

Mr. Rhodes is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; two sons, Paul and Philip; a sister, Ruth Hilsdorf and 3 grandchildren.

Dusty had many hobbies and talents, and was always known for tinkering and fixing anything with moving parts. He enjoyed RV’ing all over the US and Canada and had camped in 47 out of the 50 states! He was an Amateur Radio Operator, played the accordion, loved sitting in his tall man’s recliner, and sharing his vast wisdom with all who knew him.

The Celebration of Life service will be on January 7th at 1:00 pm at St. Paul UMC. (Address: 244 Kurtz Rd) in Marietta, with Rev. Shelia Preacher officiating.

The burial will occur at a later date.
