Myra was a very loving individual who truly had a heart of gold. She was someone who cared about everyone that she met. She made sure to stay in touch with her past classmates from school, she was the neighborhood mom as her son's friends were always welcome with open arms and she loved unconditionally. She was very giving and if there was a need, she'd be the first to give the shirt off of her back. She was a wonderful mom, sweet sister and the best Nana you could ask for.
Myra had many friends and enjoyed various things throughout her life such as attending gospel concerts, square dancing and traveling. It didn't really matter if it was near or far, Myra was lovingly called a "gypsy" as she was the first one in the car when someone mentioned a trip. She especially loved visiting the beaches in Florida and Hilton Head. Recently, Myra was inspired by art and created many colored pieces.
Myra had retired as a school bus driver after 30 years of dedicated service from Cobb County. She also had been a clown throughout her life trying to bring a smile to others and had been a red hatter in the Red Hat Society.
Myra's memory will be cherished by her son, Michael David Jenkins (Brandy Desare) of Marietta; brothers, Robbie Jenkins (Pam) of Warner Robins and Tim Jenkins of North Carolina; sister, Peggy Casteel (Frank) of Thomaston; grandchildren, Madison Rose Jenkins, Bailey Michelle Jenkins and Michael David Jenkins II; nephews, Brandon Casteel of Thomaston, Trenton Casteel of Thomaston, Scott Starnes of Thomaston and Ryan Jenkins of North Carolina; nieces, Tonja Kendrick of Tennessee, Rachael Jenkins of Warner Robins and Kimberly Bush of Warner Robins; many cousins; and best friend, Brenda Nix (Morris) of Marietta.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Mt. Paran North 1700 Allgood Road NE Marietta, Georgia 30062. Memorial Services will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jon Rogers officiating and Dr. Scott Bennett providing music.
The family requests that your choice of flowers or donations can be made in Myra's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
