Lee was born on June 11, 1936 in the West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois to Richard W. Rolston and Helen Rhode (Rena Marie S. Rolston, stepmother). Lee was baptized at Edison Park Lutheran Church; attended Chicago’s private St. John's Lutheran Church's school. She was confirmed and graduated from St. John's Lutheran Church high school in 1955. Lee graduated from North Park Academy and College, seminary studies.
Among her many exploits, Lee spent her time modeling for Jantzen (clothing store); candy striper for local a local hospital; a salesperson at Marshall Fields.
In 1955 Lee met Louis Oswald, the result of a blind date (forever grateful to mutual friend, Dorothy). After their first kiss at Buckingham Fountain, the whirlwind courtship culminated in their engagement in October 1955 and married in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church on June 30, 1956. After an extended honeymoon sightseeing through some of the western states, Louis accepted a sales position in Oregon. Approximately a year and a half later, Lee & Lou welcomed the birth of their first daughter, Lee Ann.
Shortly thereafter, the Oswald family moved to Chicago, where their second daughter, Linda Kay, was born in 1959. A third daughter, Laura Jean, was born in 1963. Then, in 1971, the fourth daughter, Lesley Marie, joined the family in Cincinnati. The Oswald family subsequently moved from Cincinnati to Miami, Florida followed by Buffalo, New York, and then finally settled on Atlanta, Georgia in 1978. Lee enjoyed many activities. Always involved with helping her community grow, she could often be found feeding homeless through church activities; assisting Must Ministries soup kitchens; and teaching people how to make her famous Bananas Foster. She ran Gourmet clubs, created exciting menus with around-the-world flair. She loved to go bowling, golfing and being a stay-at-home mother to her four beautiful daughters. She loved to plan events to entertain, serve others, and serve the Lord. She loved her family without ceasing. She truly loved traveling the world with her “Louie Bear.” Lee was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her four daughters Lee Ann (David) Maas, Linda (John) Rock, Laura (Ken) Duncan, and Lesley (Jeffrey) Cox; eight grandchildren: Liesel (Charl) Hererra, Kurt (Calli) Huffman, John Rock, Louis Rock, Kenneth (Aimelie) Duncan, Kyle (Ashley) Duncan, Alyssa Cox, Matthew Cox; and six great-grandchildren: Brayden Hererra, Harper Duncan, Hendrix Duncan, Brylee Duncan, Lyla Claire Huffman, and Kyler Huffman
The Lord graciously called Lee to her eternal rest on December 3, 2023 at the age of 87.
