Joan is survived by two daughters; Laura Hollman (Harold Hollman), and Julia Klauber (Cory Binsfield, significant other) as well as granddaughter Elizabeth Klauber Sullivan (Daniel Sullivan). Also holding a special place in her heart were her beloved nieces and their families, and her 2nd family of friends on the lake in Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Horn, her son George Horn and son in law Richard Klauber.
Joan and Bob enjoyed a 70 year marriage. The longest time they spent apart was when she was sequestered as a juror during the Jeffrey Dahmer trial. Bob then realized how hard life was without his Jo.
Joan became a marathon runner and Life Master at bridge through Bob’s encouragement. Bob shared her love of live theater and symphony performances, however, she did give him permission to sleep during the symphony as long as he didn’t snore. They both enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, but Bob could never master the Sunday NY Times puzzle like Joan. Together they enjoyed many trips to England, Hawaii, Nantucket and Montana.
We marveled at mom’s strength, that only months after losing dad she fully embraced a trip in October 2021 to her beloved granddaughter’s wedding in Massachusetts.
We don’t think it’s a coincidence that she and Betty White passed on the same day, since they were both strong women ahead of their time.
