She was born to the late John Elmer Wildes and the late Dora “Peg” Pruitt Wildes on July 15, 1953 in Monroe, North Carolina.
Jenny had a very gentle, loving and calm nature. She enjoyed cooking, Georgia Tech and spending time with family. She loved the Lord and was proud to have served in the U.S. Army Reserves MASH Unit. She was a proud patriot and had a deep love for her country and those who fought for our freedoms.
Jenny was a caregiver to her core. After graduating from Georgia Baptist Nursing School, she worked as a nurse at Clayton General, later becoming Southern Regional and at Piedmont Henry Hospital. She was given the nickname “Sister Sealey” and later worked for Atlanta Heart Associates and Surgery South. Jenny would share medical advice to friends and family. She enjoyed doing for others and loved entertaining her patients and coworkers singing the latest soft rock hits.
Jenny Compton is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Barry Michael Compton; children, Ashley McGouirk (Richard) of McDonough, Georgia, Anthony Sealey (Audrey) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Anne Symbas (John) of Atlanta, Georgia and Catherine Wedge (Rob) of Athens, Georgia; grandchildren, Brayden McGouirk and Peter Symbas; sister, Beth Dow (Mayor Phillip) of Lone Oak, Georgia; uncle, Mac Wildes (Cindy) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; many cousins, nieces, nephews and her spoiled furbaby “Sadie."
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Woodstock Funeral Home with Mary Wildes officiating. Jenny’s family will receive friends until 3:00pm immediately following the service. Jenny will be inurned at Cherokee Memorial Park at 4:00pm.
