I will always remember aunt Jenny for her kind and loving attitude towards others. She was always supportive and it meant a lot that she would travel to help celebrate accomplishments like graduation and getting married. 

I remember when I graduated from nursing school, Jenny got me a Florence Nightingale lamp. It is just another example out of many that shows the compassion and kindness that Jenny showed everyone. 

Jenny has been a constant in my life since I joined Surgery South in 1995.
She has been a friend, mentor, and an advocate throughout my career.

Family and work have always been her passion.  Her children were young when I first met Jenny. They were her life and she did everything for them. I have “watched” Ashley and Anthony grow up through Jenny’s many stories and photographs. It’s amazing she was able to raise such fine adults while working  10 plus hours a day including on weekends. She was a “Bulldog” in pursuit of collections.
She loved chatting and telling us stories about her life as an Army and ER nurse.

It was a delight when Barry came into Jenny‘s life. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and going to Tech games with him. I’m saddened that their golden years and dreams for retirement have been cut short. However, her dedication  and compassion to work, family, and friends along with her unique sense of humor, have impacted so many lives that she will live on in our memories forever.

Aunt Jenny was an incredible women and I'm honored to have known her. She is one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met, and I will always cherish memories of our time together.

I hold Jenny in the highest regard. What an honorable life she led.  She was in a MASH unit in the army - she was a very skilled nurse and nurse manager. I have a lot of respect for her - she was extremely intelligent, and I loved talking with her about medical this-and-that. She was kind and warm and receptive. She cared very much for Barry. She had a cute sense of humor, and she had a way of saying things that made me smile. I love the fact that she played guitar. I would have loved to have heard her play. She was physically beautiful; although, I don’t think she really believed that since she was an unusual kind of beauty. I loved spending time with her at Melissa‘s wedding - she was talking with us about the mystical aspect of a trip that she and Barry had taken to Colorado? Utah? I can’t remember. She was very self-reliant and competent until she wasn’t, and that must have been quite frustrating for her to lose any part of her autonomy. She was strong and bore her pain silently, not wanting to bother anybody - always wanting to be completely responsible for herself. I’m glad that she didn’t have to progress down the long and truly humiliating path of Alzheimer’s and that she remained in control of most of her faculties till the end. I will remember her always as the strong, independent, competent, sufficient, caring, loving, adventurous, badass lady that she was. I am so thankful and honored to have been part of her journey, and I wish her peace and joy in the adventure beyond.

I am so sad to say goodbye to this lovely, precious lady.  I've loved Jenny from the day I met her, and I was so happy when she and Barry married.  She will forever be in my heart as my 'sister,' not my 'sister-in-law.' 
Her kindness was part of her, and she always put the needs of others ahead of her own.  Her quiet, gentle spirit was an inspiration to me.
Bob and I will so miss her always.  Our love and support go to Barry, who is precious to us both.  


Our precious Jenny, gone to soon.  More than a cousin, she was a friend, a confidant and a partner. She was someone your could really talk to. She listened with her whole heart and she never judged. She was someone you could confide in and she was a strong source of support. Most of all she was a partner, not just as a wife to Barry, (and she loved you Barry, so much) but in all things. If she was involved, she was devoted, dedicated and determined to make it work, make it right, make it happen. She was a caregiver in all things, not just in her work but with everyone she came into contact with. If she loved you you knew it because she told you and she showed it.  I will miss being in the kitchen with her at the Wildes Family reunion. I will miss her Grace, her smile and her special sense of humor that  made everything so much fun.  So for Jenny,  a line of poetry taken from William Cullen's Thanotopsis;
So live, that when thy summons comes to join   
The innumerable caravan, which moves   
To that mysterious realm, where each shall take

I worked with Jenny for 13 years at Surgery South.  She was the most hard working, dedicated person.  She was such a wealth of knowledge and taught me so much over the years.  Jenny loved helping others (especially children and veterans)  but she usually did it without others knowing it.  She spoke with such love and pride of her children, grandchildren and husband Barry. She loved her salty chips hidden in her desk drawer and sweets as well, and  every once in a while  when we would least expect it, she would break out in song and dance in the office and make everyone smile, laugh and cheer her on for more. Jenny will be missed greatly. 

I met Jenny in 2014 when I was hired on at Surgery South, she was a beautiful person inside and out she was a pleasure to work with and always had a smile on her face.  I remember the birthday parties that we celebrated for everyone , that's when we found out she could sing and dance we were all blown away at her beautiful voice and  man she had some moves!  She will be truly missed !!

I remember when Jenny hired me at Surgery South. At the time I was a single mom and was soooo excited to get this job. I met with her for the first time  for my interview. She was so pleasant and the environment that she had created in the workplace  was that of LOVE. She told me how long each employer had been with the company. Mostly everyone had been working there for years. I knew and felt that that was because of Jenny.  She was a no nonsense, caring and easy person to talk to. She had that motherly spirit. I knew I could trust her and that she was genuine. She made me feel special and was an awesome manager and friend to work with. I will continue to pray for her family everyday.

I worked with Jenny for 16+ years at Surgery South. She taught me so much and was the hardest working lady I knew. I appreciate Jenny’s knowledge of the medical field. She helped me through several challenges, especially the day my husband walked into the office in SVT. She knew exactly what to do. Jenny had a compassion to help others for sure. You will truly be missed by many. Fly high sweet angel. 

Dearest Barry and Family  --  How lucky we all were to have Jenny in our lives. I don't remember her not being in my life. I've read the many things about who Jenny was, and her accomplishments. How true they all are. She was one of the smartest people I know and she was always willing to share her knowledge with others. She had a wonderful sense of humor and you knew it was going to be a fun time when the cousins would get together. Jenny loved her family and was so proud of them. Jenny was a caregiver to so many of her loved ones and patients.
It was so heartwarming to see her receiving that same care when she needed it most. I know Jenny would want us all to stay close as a family. To honor Jenny and her legacy, let's promise each other to do that. I loved her and will miss her. Rest peacefully, our dear Jenny! My prayers are with you and all of us that love her. 

Aunt Jenny had such a gentle spirit and her love for others was clear in her words and actions. I remember one of the first times I met her, she invited me to make dessert for the family with her. Not because she needed any help, but just to spend some time together. She was always so intentional with her time and conversations, and we will miss her.

As most know, I am Ashley's mother in law.  When I met Jenny almost 20 years ago I realized that we were different kinds of people.  She was quiet, soft spoken, organized, efficient, determined to see things her way,..  I don't remember seeing her wear blue jeans or ever with messy hair...always a perfect lady.  I was a teacher...loud, always joking, jeans and Yoga pants were my uniform...  BUT in April of 2005 Brayden Reed McGouirk was born and suddenly Jenny and I were on the same team!  We instantly bonded over that wonderful baby and what he needed, what was best for him, how we could help Ashley and Richie.  Our differences disappeared into a common goal.  She would call me to talk about ideas and concerns and I'd call her about the same.  We both loved that fabulous little boy and became friends for life.  I will miss my friend but am glad her suffering is over.  Like myself, she found  love later in life.  I know Barry will miss her terribly and is so thankful for the years they had together.  I'm sure she's got everything organized in Heaven.  

Jenny sweet Jenny!  Thank you for making me feel safe and that everything would be ok.  I will never forget that I told you about my sister that has 7 kids and how she needed things.  Just in Jenny style , the next day you had a bag full cloths and hair bows for her kids.   Thank you for not seeing color you treated me special and kind. Your smile was genuine.  Your pretty, short hair cut told me that you were confident and wasn't too into your self but others.  You were fantastic with numbers and have a beautiful sense of humor.

My memories of Jenny -we worked together for many years. She was the kindest person ~ during snow storm in the 1980’s we were working together I was 18 and my Dad dropped me off at work and would not come back to pick me up once they decided to close so Jenny said you can go home with me & 2-3 days later her husband took me home with snow chains on his tires. 
Jenny LOVED her family- children Ashley & Anthony, parents, she lit up always speaking of them. She was so intelligent, amazing nurse, funny & beautiful and loved French onion soup. I adored her & I know she will be missed by many. I love you Jenny Compton.

Remembering Jenny I met her 15 years ago when she hired me at SSPC 
Jenny would sing and dance around the office..it's funny she only did it with the clinical staff 😊we had her cutting up. She told us so many stories of her singing and dancing..She used to say now Joan you can sing it better than me and I would say no way!! Her voice was amazing!!
I also remember when my daughter was in the hospital for over a week Jenny checked on me everyday and told me to take my time coming back to work.
I missed her dearly when she retired, She was very personable, she cared, if you told her anything in confidence it stayed with her..
To her family may God give you all strength, peace, and comfort at this time🙏

Jenny was always incredibly kind to our family and was there for us when we needed it the most. We will remember her for her generosity and her mac and cheese that she always provided for “Friendsgiving” with Ashley. 
We are praying for you all. 

Jenny worked as a nurse manager at Atlanta Heart. While she was only there for a short time, she made a large impact. She was extremely smart, organized, witty, and an overall good person to be around.  She didn’t like excuses and wanted everything by the book. It truly was a pleasure to work with her.  I now get the opportunity of seeing all those same qualities in her daughter, Ashley who I love and work with everyday.  You will be missed by all who knew you.
