Jamison Talmadge Horton, age 46, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Woodstock (The Chapel), 777 Neese Drive, Woodstock, Georgia 30188 with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 1:00 PM. A Celebratory Gathering will immediately follow at River Green’s Heritage Club, 201 Clubhouse Drive, Canton, Georgia 30114. In remembrance of Jamie, please wear UGA, red and black or 575 attire.
Jamie was born on July 30, 1975 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a Jonesboro, Georgia native attending Lovejoy High School. He received his Bachelor’s in Political Science from the University of Georgia and his Specialist degree from Walden University.
Jamie was happily married to Jennifer Horton for 19 years and had three beautiful daughters. He was a former educator of Jonesboro and Cass High School and was a current teacher at Cherokee High School in Canton, Georgia. Jamie was able to positively impact thousands of lives as a basketball and volleyball coach during his 20+ year career.
Jamie was one of the founding members of 575 Volleyball Club; he was a key part of its growth and continued success. With a larger than life personality and a heart to match, it’s easy to see why Jamie was loved by everyone he met! He was a wonderful husband and father, loved teaching and coaching and spending time with his family and friends. Jamie found joy in playing golf, relaxing at the beach and was a huge UGA Bulldogs fan “Gooooooooooo Dawgs!”
Jamie’s memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Jennifer Horton; their three daughters, Riley, Reagan and Rivers; parents, Bill and Sandra Horton; sister, Jessica White (Kyle); niece, Brennan White; nephew, Kassten White; parent in laws, Phil and Lynn Rushing; brother in law, Chris Rushing (Elba); niece, Grace Rushing; nephew, Gerald Rushing; and many cousins and extended family members.
