Gloria Walker Reed, age 93, departed this life on August 4, 2022, to join her loved ones who predeceased her in death, which includes her husband, Edwin Ewing Reed, Jr, mother and father, Grace Frierson Walker and Sam Bell Walker II, brother, Sam Bell Walker III, and sister, Grace Walker Manis.
She is survived by two brothers, Theodore Frierson Walker and Charles Bradford Walker, two daughters, Cynthia Lee French (Edil) and Gloria Reed Blackburn (Douglas), and son, Edwin Ewing Reed III (Danielle). Gloria is also survived by four granddaughters, Karen Ashley Small, Kimberly Blackburn Ferraro (A.J.), Tracie Christine Small-Veliz (Rafael), and Alexandra Danielle French (Heath), plus two step-grandsons, Ryan D. Costill and Noel A. Costill. She has three great-grandsons, Jack B. Ferraro, Nolan R. Veliz, and Owen E. Veliz, and a step-great-grandson, R. Fernando Cano-Veliz.
Gloria attended Vanderbilt University and was a member of AOII sorority. As a member of Hillwood Country Club, she enjoyed swimming and golf. Gloria loved to travel and took many trips with her family members and close friends. Her grandchildren enjoyed many adventures to zoos, space camps, Disney World, Rocky Top, the beach in Naples, FL, and more. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker and seamstress, she was the office administrator and accountant for her husband’s company, Ed Reed Specialty Co. With Senior Citizens, she volunteered to teach computer classes and prepare tax returns. She was an active member of Belle Meade United Methodist Church and the Kingswood Sunday School Class and volunteered as a receptionist.
The funeral service is to be held at Belle Meade United Methodist Church, at 121 Davidson Road, Nashville, TN 37205, on October 22, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Steve Stone will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at the church Columbarium immediately after the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Belle Meade United Methodist Church. Woodstock Funeral Home in Georgia at 470-863-1588 oversees arrangements.
